From Goodreads.com: The snow may be deep, but the lies run deeper.

Bonnie and her husband Steffan are hiking in the beautiful Swiss Alps when they are caught in a freak snowstorm. Fearing they may not survive, the couple are overjoyed when they stumble across an isolated cabin occupied by a lone woman, Annalise.

But their joy soon turns to unease as they realise that Annalise may have a sinister agenda.

And she’s not the only one with something to hide. Trapped together in a nightmarish pressure cooker, the cracks in Bonnie’s marriage start to show as she discovers that Steffan has been leading a secret life.

All the while Annalise becomes more and more menacing. What does she want from them? And what is she willing to do to get it?

Bound ever tighter in a horrifying web, Bonnie is finally forced to confront one terrifying truth – someone is going to die on this mountain.

My Rating: 2 stars out of 5

This novel took me forever to finish, and it wasn't because it didn't have the makings of a good story, as it absolutely it did. It was just the constant jump every chapter not only between Bonnie and Annalise but also them in the past and them in the future that just kept taking me out of the story.

Added to that,  neither Bonnie nor Annalise had a strong enough personality to truly distinguish one from the other. There were several times I had to stop and think, “Wait, which one is this again?”, which is far from ideal when you’re juggling multiple timelines and perspectives. If I can’t easily tell two main characters apart, the emotional stakes just fall flat for me.

Then there’s the marketing. The front cover promises “a gripping psychological thriller with a shocking twist” and “the truth will chill you to the bone.” Unfortunately, for me at least, it delivered neither of those things. The plot was fairly predictable from early on, and when the big twist finally hit, it felt very underwhelming.

That all being said, I don't think that this was a bad book by any means, in fact for someone who is just getting into the suspense/thriller genre (or who doesn't mind the constant switching back and forth), I think this would be a great read for them. It just missed the mark for me.
