My Rating: 3.5 stars out of 5
This was an easy story to get into. The characters were interesting, and there was a lot of witty banter to be had not only between Edwin and Gwen, but between Gwen and her students as well. I also loved the way the author managed to weave in the story of "the ghost bride" in such a way that added to the main plot instead of overshadowing it.
There was just enough undercurrent of the creepy to keep the reader hooked, and even though I expected something like the ending we got, I was still pleasantly surprised at the way the author managed to pull it off.
However, being that this is a novella, I don't feel like we really got to scratch the surface of these characters, or of this story. There is so much potential here that I know the author is capable of, but sadly we don't get to see a lot of that here. What is also unfortunate is in looking over some of the other reviews, I see this was the first book a lot of readers picked up by her, and it has turned them away from reading more - which is a damn shame because her Original Sinners series is AMAZING.
WARNING: Due to sexual content, this story is for mature (18 and over) audiences only.
