Review: Stranger in My House by Mari Manning

Print Length:
Publisher: Entangled Select Suspense (June 13, 2016)

From Goodreads.com: When Kirby Swallow assumes her half sister’s identity to help figure out who's threatening her, she finds herself in way over her head. On the remote Texas ranch her sister calls home, she confronts a growing list of suspects and a rising body count—all while wearing her sister's 4-inch heels. The only problem is the sexy ranch manager, Seth Maguire, is starting to catch on to the charade. The attraction between them is undeniable—and soon, what starts out as just a one-night stand, turns into something much deeper. But someone on the ranch is out for blood…and Kirby's next.

My Rating: 4 stars out of 5

On the plus side I felt that this was one of those rare stories that manages to perfectly walk the balance between romance and mystery. I was kept guessing who the culprit was, while still attracted to the romance between Kirby and Seth.

On the flip side of things - there were some reactions of other characters that weren't quite believable. I felt as though once all of the information was given to the reader (information the characters previously held), it didn't make sense for certain characters to behave in the ways that they did.

Overall however, I was very pleased with this novel. I felt that everything came together to give the reader a well planned story. The ending had a twist that I did not see coming (for a couple of different reasons).

That being said, I would definitely recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys a good suspenseful romance.
