Review: The Return (The Original Sinners #8.45) by Tiffany Reisz

Print Length: 94 pages
Publisher: 8th Circle Press (May 30, 2020)
From Goodreads.com:  Former lieutenant Kingsley Boissonneault returns to The Chateau in this sequel novella to Tiffany Reisz’s bestselling romantic suspense novel.
The cult’s holy book is Story of O, the infamous French novel of extreme sado-masochism. Their château is a looking-glass world where women reign and men are their willing slaves. Lieutenant Kingsley Boissonneault once spent a month inside its walls, experiencing pleasure and pain beyond imagining. He swore he would never go back…until now. Previously published as “The Story of Ø” in the limited-edition, signed-and-numbered hardcover edition of The Chateau.

My Rating: 5 stars out of 5
While the greedy person that I am wishes this had been a full-length novel, this short-story is a perfect reminder of what makes Kingsley who he is.
I loved how it bounced back between the "present day" conversation between Søren and Madame while also allowing us to see glimpses of Søren and Kingsley as they had been as teenagers in their secret hermitage. As much as I thought I knew of those two (and even from the glimpses we had seen in prior novels), this novella managed to add even more depth and yet another layer to the complicated onion that is their relationship.
Those of you who haven't read any of the prior Original Sinner novels will no doubt be completely lost with this one as it's hard to convey the complexity of the love these characters share for one another in such short amountof time. However, for established fans of this series, this is a wonderful glimpse into the love Søren and Kingsley share. I would read more from this author.
