Review: Hardpressed (Hacker #2) by Meredith Wil

Print Length: 286 pages
Publisher: Meredith Wild (December 7, 2013)

From In Hardpressed, the highly anticipated second book of the Hacker Series that began with Hardwired, Blake and Erica face threats that put both their love and their lives on the line.

Despite Blake Landon’s controlling ways, the young and wealthy hacker finally won the trust of the woman he loves. Internet entrepreneur Erica Hathaway broke down the walls that kept her from opening her heart and her business to Blake.

Ready to start this new chapter in her life, Erica is determined not to let anything come between them, even if that means giving Blake back some of the control he craves in and out of the bedroom.

But when demons from her past threaten their future, Erica makes a decision that could change their lives forever.

My Rating: 1 star out of 5

My Review: After my disappointment with book #1 in this series, I was hesitant to continue on. I finally managed to finish this book, and while I wasn't overly impressed with this novel either, the aspect of her tormentor and what happened to him, and the revelation of who was behind it gave it a bit more dimension that the first book had.

However, what happened after that was just so completely unbelievable that I found myself shaking my head. There were so many options available to Erica had she just sat down and thought, but no that's too much to ask and she runs away from Blake (again). only to spend pages lamenting over how miserable she was without him until they finally face off and SURPRISE! Have sex. Again.

Speaking of sex, I believe there is more sex in this novel than actual plot. In fact, the two main characters repeatedly resort to sex to "overlook" their MAJOR problems, or to avoid talking altogether. Honestly, there wasn't anything to their relationship aside from the sex, and that alone made it hard to get into this one.
